About Andrew

This website documents the dance work of Andrew Wood who lives in Oxford, England. He’s the author unless otherwise stated.

I dance contact improvisation – a contemporary dance – which I also teach and organise. I founded Oxford Contact Dance with Ana Barbour in 2014, and since 2015 I have been teaching there too.

Initially, my love was Argentine Tango which I started in 2007. Sometimes, I combine tango and contact improvisation: contact tango!

Productions

I’ve been director and performer for the following productions with Oxford Contact Dance:

  • Becoming Gentleness was a dance performance in University Parks, Oxford in autumn 2020 – during the Coronavirus epidemic.
  • The In-between Dance was performed in Oxford, May 2019 and on stage in Oxford, December 2019.
  • The Garden Dance at the Turrill Sculpture Garden, Oxford was performed in September 2018.
  • The Library Dance at Oxfordshire’s Central Library celebrated the renovation and re-opening of Oxfordshire’s main public library in December 2017.
